At our 'Wines of the Loire Valley" Wild Wine Club sitting, the Clos de Nouys Vouvray Brut was served with pickled carrot, covered in goats curd and wild flowers, and local honey drizzled over the top.
A delicate sparkling wine, with floral notes of acacia on the nose, followed by flavours of fresh citrus fruit and hints of almonds.
Clos de Nouys Clos de Nouys is the essence of Vouvray.
Indeed this 25-acre estate is found just outside the eponymous sleepy village. While the vines are on average 35 years old in this part of the Loire Valley, it’s a comparative young upstart, considering the Vouvray appellation was one of the first to be officially recognised.
Production note: Le Clos de Nouys is situated on Vouvray’s prime hillsides with a south to south-west aspect.
